If Women Ruled the World Essay

I was intrigued after ready your essay ‘What if women ruled the world’ and after reading it, I myself being a women, I discovered I have some opinions of my own; I would like to share them with you. For hundreds of years women have been classed as ‘weaker’ then men and ‘second class’ compared to men. We get most of these believes because of what is often stated in the bible: 1 Timothy 2:12 â€Å"I do not permit a women to teach or to have authority over a man; she must remain silent† this has, in my opinion, helped shaped the fact that we see women as not as strong, or be unable to rule. I personally disagree with what the bible says and I am a bit of a feminist, although it is up for interpretation, God also states that we are created in image of him, so we are all equality important. In my opinion, I do think that there would be some change to the world if it was ruled by women, but not a humungous difference, I think we make such a big deal out of the fact that women are second class to men, that we have this is strange idea that if that women ruled world, it would be completely different, when realistically speaking, It wouldn’t be so different†¦ would it? Many people say that if women ruled the world, there would be less war and more peace. It is true that women dislike conflict more than men, but that is stereotype, a lot of women enjoy conflict and victory and being better than others so they can feel smug. They say this even if they don’t know what its like to be a leader, which they don’t, I for one am not a leader of any large government or country so I can only hardly imagine the pressure someone is put under when they have to decide whether to go to war or not, I do not think it matters what gender you are, you want to do what is best for your country and your people, it is the instinct for survival and the survival of our children. They are under your care and you must make sure they are safe, if they are in danger of being attacked, you want them to be safe and protect your country-sometimes war is the only option, do you honestly think Winston Churchill was keen to go to war with Germany in 1939 and risk the lives of people? Sometimes you cannot do what you want, but what you must. In your letter you state that women often experience life ‘differently’ to men, this I do agree on, although men and women are very similar, it is a fact that we think using different parts of our brains. I do think that the economically would be different, and perhaps we would be in such a bad economic state. Women do think differently to men in the way that we analyse things more thoroughly and think of different ways to find a solution. Then again, back onto my topic of war some women do not like the thought of war, as they mostly care about their own families and the families of people they care about, and we do suffer the most in wars-as you said. if we worked with men, we could help them build bridges between countries and keep peace and ensure, as you said â€Å"broader range of issues, from food security to sexual violence, are addressed† Maybe we wouldn’t be so drastic in going to war, as I stated before, we would probably think it through and decide whether it was worth it. Furthermore, as you said in your essay, women are more team oriented, so women could try and work together and make alliances with other countries and keep peace. In your essay you also say that, when women have more money they spend it on essential things like education and health. I think, if women ruled the world there would be less poverty as we would try and spend money on things that truly matter in LEDC’s like Africa. If women ruled the world, if they there were less wars because of what I stated earlier, we wouldn’t have to spend much money of weapons for war, we could use that saved money to spend it on better schools and health care, so, as you said â€Å"the entire community prospers’’. In conclusion, I honestly do not know what the world would be like if it were ruled by women, for it never has been and probably will not be for a while, all we can do is purely speculate because of our believes and our own opinions. I do, however, think there would be a difference, but not a massive one.

Education ethics Essay

Formulating my Philosophy of education seems difficult, but has taught me what we as educators have to focus on, we have to concentrate on what unites us in our career choice, we have to always remember that we are providing a service, and the customer is our number 1 priority. Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life. Philosophy is a human being’s attempt to think speculatively, reflectively, and systematically about the universe and the human relationship to that universe. To educate a child, a lot of things have to be considered, we have to know why we teach, what to teach and how to teach. Knowledge of the students is very vital. I believe that every learner†¦.. * Is unique, for he is fearfully & wonderfully created by God, & so comparing a child to other children has no basis. * Has a natural interest in learning & is capable of learning * Has different learning styles & aptitudes * Has a delicate mind * Has worth and can learn I believe that there are unchanging values in changing times & these must be passed on to every child by my modeling. I believe being given the opportunity to instruct the youth of today and the leaders of tomorrow requires high moral and ethical standards to be met. Teachers, although they are still human, need to be held to a higher level of accountability than most other professions. We are not only being expected to instruct subject matter, but to set standards for the social ability of our students. This list of ethics would not only strengthen the profession, but society as a whole. I know it is difficult to enforce codes of ethics and morality, but as does a physician swear to hold up ethical standards, so should our teachers. Being entrusted with such a remarkable opportunity to mold our society requires an unwavering commitment. I believe that education should be a process of ongoing growth, not just preparation for becoming an adult. I believe that my task as a teacher is to facilitate the development of every child to the optimum & to maximum by: * Reaching out to all children without bias & prejudice towards the least of the children. * Touching the lives of thousands of youth, promote their wellness, and educate their minds. * Providing a quality education to each individual in ones classroom * Equipping children with tools necessary for success in life. We get into teaching because we believe we can make a difference even if only in the life of one child, and it makes it all worth it. And we come across the students whose lives we have impacted and we know that what we do does make a difference. † I feel that to educate the entire child more than one personal education philosophy is needed. A teacher needs to discover what philosophy or philosophies work in today’s classroom dependent upon the teacher and on society. It is my goal for my students to have complimenting dimensions, a strong individualistic nature that works and plays well with other members of society.

Brainstorm By Howard Nemerov Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Brainstorm By Howard Nemerov - Essay Example Although the span of time in which the events of this poem happened is short, it is very detailed, and the details are very clear. It shows how much can happen in a very short time. If I were to liken this poem to a thing, then it would be to a photograph that captures the details of a beautiful moment. This poem describes a moment of reflection for the speaker, where he faces a storm while in the house, and where his mind takes him to an imagined circumstance of becoming the house, of feeling the crows on his head while he is the house, of being torn down by nature, and of being reborn again into something new. Reading the poem, I noticed a rhyme scheme on alternate lines. In some cases, the author used internal rhyme to satisfy the rhyme scheme. The poem has two stanzas, with the first stanza consisting of the bulk of the poem and the second stanza consisting of only one line, which somehow serves as a punch line. Simile can be observed in line 6, where the silence of the wind is likened to a blind man walking through the house. Personification can be observed in lines 7 to 8, where the timber and sap of the house are said to ‘revolt’ from the hold of the washer, bank, and spike. By line 16, I noticed the author used ‘blind’ thrice already, but in different contexts. The first instance refers to the ‘window blinds’, the next is the blind man, and lastly, when the window vanes blur or ‘began to blind’ with rain. At first, it disturbed me, but then maybe the author meant it this way because it probably symbolized something. The house and c rows are personified as they talked to each other. The speaker is then worried that ‘the secret’ might be out as the crows and the house talk. The secret is that â€Å"houses are only trees stretched on the rack.† If nature knew this secret, then it would claim what is rightfully hers; rain will put rust in the nails, shingles will be warped with

After a close scrutiny by the sales agents, the company ascertains that the biggest numbers of its customers are attracted to its products as a result of their reliable nature and quality of output. The limited complains got from the customers’ side and their praise of the products gives the senior management of the company confidence that they are in a position of offering their customers with the value for their money. Records Management System Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Records Management System - Essay Example This study outlines that the best source of information about the benefits and pitfalls of database management and the manner in which it can be successfully implemented is through the wisdom gleaned from the efforts of other corporations in this area. Moreover, another aspect that arise sin connection with the generation and maintenance of records of data is the ethical aspects, since records helps to keep track of the activities of individuals in the firm and helps to introduce higher levels of accountability and good governance within a firm. Destruction of such data that traces a person’s activity could give rise to issues of ethics, since fraudulent activity may be masked by destruction of documents. Therefore it is vital that data be preserved. However with the constraints of space, it is also necessary to seek those kinds of measures and methods that will help in the maximum efficiency in utilization of space for storage while also ensuring that data is protected and re mains accessible. Significant findings presented in this report are the link between corporate governance and data/records management. Furthermore, there is a need to streamline and reduce the generation of paper documents and to seek alternative methods of offline storage such as microfiche or other devices where large volumes of data can be compressed and stored in small spaces. Another important aspect that is highlighted in this report is the need or accuracy in data generation, since wrong data could prove harmful to an organization and also result in colossal wastes of effort, time and money.

Gender differences and Job Satisfaction Research Paper

Gender differences and Job Satisfaction - Research Paper Example Although subjective variable on gender difference and job satisfaction are of traditional interest to sociology and psychology researchers, many of the existing studies analyzing gender have been conducted in the field of economics for example Asadullah and Fernà ¡ndez, 2007; Sloane and Williams, 2000). There has been an increase in research especially in the field of management targeting gender differences affect job satisfaction among employees in different occupations. A key area of interest has been why women report almost equal or higher levels of job satisfaction when studies have shown they generally occupy inferior job positions compared to those occupied by men. Consequently, this scenario has led to investigations to find out how job satisfaction of female employees compares with that of male employees and what possible explanations accounts for the existing gender differences in job satisfaction. Therefore, the paper will rely on a number of empirical researches that inve stigate gender differences and job satisfaction to find out how two interact in the workplace. Investigation of gender differences and job satisfaction present conflicting results given the various areas that needs to be considered during such investigations. de Galdeano (2002) provides important insights that shows the difference that might exist in the job satisfaction of female and male employees are not related to their differences in observable characteristics nor can it the difference be attributed to a problem of sample selection. This is done by apply the propensity score which has been used by researchers such Tabellini and Trebbi (2001) to further the accuracy of their results. de Galdeano (2002) examines sample selectivity based on the belief that if female employees were dissatisfied by their working conditions they would find it equally easy to leave their employment just as their male counterparts whereby those who remain will have higher job

Counterculture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Counterculture - Essay Example The counter-culture is the cultural counterpart of of political opposition. This is a new sociological term coined by Theodore Roszak, an American social thinker, whose writings are frequently linked with the "alternative or " "new age" movements. It is Roszak who narrated and explained the European and North American counterculture of the 1960s in his book The Making of a Counter Culture (1969). However, mentions about the term also exist in earlier times, as Stein Rokkan in his models in political science, used the expression to depict the fight of the marginal against the authoritative mainstream central state-and nation-building and that kind of cultural homogenization in 1967 (Alford et al, 1974). Loosely speaking, countercultural trends are prsent in many societies, but what Roszak et al here means is a more important and noticeable trend, reaching a significant target for a certain span of time, a movement expressing the culture, hopes and dreams of a paricular group of people during an epoch - a social expression of zeitgeist, the typical spirit of a historical epoch in its entirety (Zeit contains the sense of "era"), the idea is derived from the belief that the time has a objective meaning and is instilled with content In this sense Countercultural ambiances in 19th century Europe took in the Romantic, Bohemian and the Dandy movements (Dictionary of the History, lib.virginia.edu ). Another movement in the 1950's, Beat generation/Beatniks also had traces of counter culture in it, followed in the 1960s by the hippies. The term 'counterculture' became important in the news media as it referred to the social revolution swaying North America, Western Europe, Japan, Australia a nd New Zealand during the 1960s and early 1970s (Roszak, 1969). In modern history of the western world (and for that matter, the world in its entireity) countreculture is often placed synonymouly with the turbulent decades of the 1960os and 1970's that was, accoding to Roszak, a social and political response to the pretense of the mainstream worldly culture from which it rose. In the The Making of a Counter Culture he handles rather truthfully the tensions, problems and incongruities connected with the ascent of the counterculture and the inherent problems it had with it to ultimately heralding for the worldly normal culture. History, no doubt, shows that the philosophy of the 1960s was squashed by the crushing attack of the system and the political and social values of the counterculture finally joined into the realm of private philosophies of hippies as absorbed into the mainstream. Yet while earlier studies on the sixties focus mainly on the "hippie" era, or on the sex, the drugs, and the music, Roszak focuses mostly on the political and soci al issues of the time including everything from the Vietnam War to how the effect of counter culture on lifestyles of an average American family. He assesses thoroughly the bond between the late 1960's counterculture to avant-garde intellectual ideas of the same age, discussing those of Herbert Marcuse and Norman Brown, among others, in great detail to show clearly how their ideas affected the intellectual and political movements on college campuses in both America and Europe with a remarkable insight especially considering that he wrote The Making of a Counter Culture almost on the same time while the events were still expanding. The counter culture of the 1960's and the 1970's, Roszak shows us, was

Conceptual framework in accounting are useless. Critically evaluate Essay

Conceptual framework in accounting are useless. Critically evaluate - Essay Example In this view, Tinker was in support that accounting is not through which a language to communicate (W Schweiker (1992) Accounting theories are structures that unify a basic logic or a system of reasoning. It is through this reasoning that purely speculative and interpreting decisions that accounting users this are the key stakeholders such as the shareholders use to reach their key decisions making and further analysis is done. The accounting concepts are neither laws no rules they are opinions that have been discussed and agreed to be followed. Their origin dates back to 1971 a certification of SSAP2 which included the going concern concept, the Prudence concept, Accruals and the consistency concept. The going concern concept views a business as a continuous project with no end and it is the value of the business to break it down into bits to be easy in accounting. The first assumption is the economic entity assumption this operates under the banner that the economic activities between the business and the owner is different this does not refer to the final adjustment of many activities as owners t ry to use this principle to their advantage This has been used by managers by hiding a lot of cash in different countries and avoid some checks and balances in their countries (G Morgan (1982). The enticement of tax haven have made it easier for financial users to be denied the chance and They have been able to do this due to the difference in some of principles though the guidance should be based on generally accepted principle. The other assumption of accounting is the going concern which shows out this assumption provides the owner with the assumption that if the business books are reported that the business will continue for the rest of the time and works only to give a picture of a business which has no end. The State University Experience Essay Example for Free

The State University Experience Essay There is a State University video and it seems cool. It offers a lot of majors and the school is nearby the house. One time he visited the school and has a tour with his parents. There is one tour guide that assist them to the whole University and it seems that he doesn’t know what he’s doing and they wasn’t able to complete the tour. And when they go to the gigantic lecture hall the lights are off and the tour guide can’t find the switch to turn the lights, so they just open the door so that the sunlight could come in. The admissions office sends a letter to his mom and it seems that there is a problem because of the transcript of record is missing and they can’t find it. So he asked his counselor if he sends the transcript and she told that she already send last week. He’s been accepted to the University and already sends a confirmation form. There are a lot of applications that same information that already passed and he is wondering why they need the same information. It’s a waste of time. There is an orientation in the school and he met a lots of friends and he already know who is his advisor and signed for the classes. After that all he left to do is pay his tuition fee because if not, there will be a problem because he will lose all of his signed class  if he didn’t pay the bill on time. He needs to go to the admissions office or to his college office to confirm and check the letter that was being sent to them long time ago because the form and the fee has been paid. It is his first day and it seems it’s stressful for his first day in that university. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Ems: How should the State University admissions office improve their service process in accepting enrollees and prevent errors in the system of applications? Abi: How should the Admissions office of the State University improve their service process in accepting enrollees and to remove the waste of time that the customer experiencing while in the process of filling the application forms? ANALYSIS OF THE CASE A customer waste of time and bad experience for the first time in a company is a big no to businesses because this will lead to losses and a customer will shift to the other company that offers better service. In this case, a new student want to enroll in the university and to know about the facilities to better know about the school she/he chose, the tour guide doesn’t know what she’s doing and not familiar with the facilities inside the campus. Also, the admissions office has an application form that contains confusing information for the student which cannot easily understand. They also missed some important paper and files about the student which are very important. Furthermore, the university doesn’t access billing information faster and they have lack of financial aid for the student to pay for their bills. As a University they must have a good and organized admissions office to put and keep the important papers in just one place and their process service m ust be well organized to prevent unnecessary things. ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION I. The State University should have an application software in computer having a Poka-Yoke device This will help to eliminate the waste in waiting,  finding the information and to prevent from missing important papers. Poka-Yoke devices can give warnings if the file has not been saved yet by the admission or it can track errors that they made. II. The State University Administrators should use Process Management Activities. This Process Management will help the Admission Office to have a good service process where in the inputs they have in the enrollees will be sequenced properly and they will have a success completion. III. State University can do Benchmarking This will compare the service they provide from the other schools and this can improve the service performance of the State University administrators. This eliminates time and resources. It can also identify the performance gaps between the organization and competitors. IV. The State University should use Value-creation process vis-à  -vis with support process This process will improve the Admission Office in giving services; it will provide specific work steps to the employees in performing the services in the application of enrollees and handling them properly. V. State University should change their people in charge in the admission office. They should change the people in charge in the admission office to a well trained and responsible enough to handle files properly because the problem might be on the people in charge why files or application are being misplaced. RECOMMENDATION Our group recommends the second alternative which is the University should  use the Process Management Activity. The university must have enough equipments or materials for the important information of each student that are enrolled in the school and so that they will not experience hard time by finding from different rooms the important documents of a student. Control by means of measuring the process if they met the expected output and the school must continuously improve the service they provide for the customers. To apply those techniques it should be repeatable and measureable. Meeting these two conditions ensures that sufficient data can be collected to reveal useful information for evaluation and control, as well as learning that leads to continuous improvement. LEARNINGS The group learned that service process management in an organization is important factor that the employee and the company must consider because each customer contributes and help the business grow and it affects the business on how to deliver value to its customer. But sometimes, we cannot avoid that the cause of the dissatisfaction of the customer because it is the employee itself. To have an effective process the errors must resolve quickly to prevent repetition so that the customer will prevent from dissatisfying about the service that the employee gives. To develop an efficient procedure the company must be organized and give high standards of performance because this serves as a guide or directions to do a quality standards which leads to efficiency and in satisfying customers.

Use Of Power In Organizations

Use Of Power In Organizations Personal power is power that resides with an individual, regardless of his or her position in the organization. Someone usually exercise personal power through rational persuasion or by playing of followers identifications with him or her. An individual with personal power often can inspire greater loyalty and dedication in followers than someone who has only position power. The stronger influence from the fact that the followers are acting more from choice than from necessity and thus will respond more readily to request and appeals. Of course the influence of a leader who relies only on personal power is limited, because followers may freely decided not to accept his or her directives or orders. The distinctions between formal and informal leaders are also related to position and personal power .A formal leader will have , at minimum, position power. And an informal leader will similarly have some degree of personal power. Just as a person may be both a formal and an informal leader, he or she can have both position and personal power simultaneously. Indeed such a combination usually has the greatest potential influence on the action of others. An individual with both personal and position power will have the strongest overall power. Likewise , an individual with neither personal nor position power will have the weakest overall power. Finally when either personal or position power is high but the other is low, the individual will have a moderate level or overall power. The Uses of Power in Organizations Power can be used in many ways in an organization. But because of the potential for its misuse and the concerns that it may engender, it is important that the mangers fully understand the dynamics of using power. In using expert power, managers aware of their education, experience, and accomplishments as they apply to current circumstances. But to maintain credibility , a leader should not pretend to know things that he or she really does not know. A leader whose pretension are exposed will rapidly lose expert power. A confident and decisive leader demonstrate a firm grasp of situations and takes charge when circumstances. Managers should also keep themselves informed about development related to tasks that are valuable to the organization and relevant to their expertise. A leader who recognizes employee concerns works to understand the underlying nature of these issues and takes appropriate steps to reassure subordinates. For e.g. , if employees feel threatened by rumors that they will lose office space after the next move, the leader might ask them about this concern and then find out just how much office space there will be and tell the subordinates, a leader should be careful not to flaunt expertise or behave like a he know everything. Suppose a manager has asked subordinates to spend his day finishing an important report. Later, while the manager is out of the office, the manager boss comes and ask the subordinates to drop that project and work on something else. The subordinates will then be in the akward position of having to choose which of two higher-ranking individuals to obey. Exercising authority regularly wil reinforce its presence in the eyes of subordinates. Verifying compliances simply means that leaders should find out whether subordinates have carried out their request before giving rewards otherwise subordinates may not recognize the linkage between their performance and subsequent reward. The request that is to be rewarded must be both reasonable and feasible, of course, because even the promise of a reward will not motivate a subordinates who thinks a request should not or cannot be carried out. The same can be said for a request that seems improper or unethical. Among other things, the follower may see a reward linked to an improper or ethical request. Finally if the leader promises a reward that subordinates know she or he cannot actually deliver , or if they have little use for a reward the manager can deliver, they will not be motivated to carry out the request. Further , they may grow sceptical of the leaders ability to deliver rewards that are worth something to them. Bases of Power Leaders are not automatically endowed an unlimited amount of power over subordinates . leaders also differ in terms of the sources of bases upon which power over subordinates can be exerted. There are five different powers that affect leadership which include expert power, referent power, legitimate power, reward power and coercive power. The first base of power is labelled coercive power. The basis of the influence is the fact that one person can punish another. Thus , a subordinates may do what a leader request because the leader has the power to fire the subordinates. Although the threat of punishment may give a leader considerable power over subordinates ,coercive power generally is not a very efficient base of power. The second power base described by French and Raven is labelled reward power. This is essentially the opposite of coercive power. That is subordinates do what the leader wants because the leader has the ability to reward them in some way. For example, a subordinates may comply with a leader request that he or she work overtime because the leader has the power to grant this employee a larger pay increase when raised are given out. The Third power base is labelled legimate power. This power emanates from the position that one holds in an organization. In most organization settings, the fact that one employees is another employee is another employees supervisor means that the supervisor has a legimate right to make request of the other person. Note that this legitimate right is independent of the person holding the position. The Fourth power base is expert power. This is power based on the fact that an individual is perceived as an expert on something to ask a group of subordinates to work on a weekend may bring the group before making the request. When exchange is used as an influence tactics, the leader offers subordinates something in return for complying with the request, or perhaps offers them a share of the benefits that accrue when a task iis accomplished. The fifth is Pressure. This involves the use of demands ,threats ,or persistent monitoring to make subordinates comply with a request . Suppose a supervisor wants to make sure a subordinates is on time every morning. One way to do this would be check the persons desk to see if he or she is present by the required time. Although pressure may at times get leader the behaviour they desire, this almost always comes in the form of compliance on the part of the employee. Leadership Good leaders are gifted, everyone cant lead it . If you have the desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process, of self-study, education, training, and experience. To inspire the workers to a higher levels of teamwork, there are certain things to, know, . It do not come naturally, but when we acquired through continual work and study. Good leaders practices are continually works and studying to improve their leadership skills. Before we get started, lets define leadership. Leadership is a process by which a person influences others, the objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. The most popular definitions is that leadership is a quality of the persons possess that allows them to rule, and lead other people. That quality consists of a persons charisma, power of thought, intellectual potential, organizational talents, and sense of responsibility. Other leadership essays examples give a different definition: leadership is concrete knowledge of psychology and social interaction, anyone can certainly develop the ability to be a leader. We have seen someone ordinary leading a company or an organization. We have seen someone who is leading a country, but has no charisma, no special skills. There is little doubt youll answer no. We can give the example of Hitler whenever he gives the speech everyone claps he was just a amazing person but the secret is whenever he comes in the stage he used to practice in front of mirror .Unfortunately, there are so many people in our world who are in the top positions, who have influence and power, although nobody really sees a real leader in them. Perhaps being a leader simply means being in a position over other people. Of course, their are some strategy to lead someone is to have the skills to make someone undertake what you want. Although it does not signify that this someone has no other solution. A real leader is someone who is respected by other people and due to this respect is followed by them. Being a leader demands something distinctive should be there in a person something that makes him or her special, something stronger, and probably better than others so he compete with others. Thats why its not correct to think its virtually anyone can easily be a leader but not the perfect. Of course, to be a good one, we should improve our self, gain more and more practical knowledge as well as the experience, although with effort the leadership potential we can become a good leader. The Power of Leadership What is leadership? What is power? We define the two as a cornerstone of any successful team, organization, or for any successful country. If there to analyze the U.S. we could see this very clearly. The U.S. is the leader and one of the most dominating countries in the world, hence being called world power. What we estimate that leadership compliments from power, and power compliments leadership. When these two qualities are used in a responsible manner success soon and follows the right path . If we refer to the history books, we can come to the conclusion that wars are won by good leadership and a responsible use of power. Whenever we mention the word Power most of the people will think that power is evil, corrupt, self-serving, manipulative and hurtful. When we used power is in an ethical and in purposeful way, there is nothing evil about it. Leadership is interpersonal influence, exercised in a situation, and directed, through communication process ,and it is an attainment of a specified goal or goals. If we would delegate responsibility to someone, we need to analyse that person with the power as well. Managers and leaders always commit the mistake of giving people responsibility, and not giving them the actual power so that they can execute their responsibilities well. How many people have we met that they are frustrated with their jobs simply because they had job responsibilities that they did not have much power to fulfil. They try their very best, but they gave resigned or frustrated because they realize they simply do not have the better resources; decision making power; time to fulfill it. In other words, they were given a task, but they were not given the resources to complete that task. Leadership, power and influence is a theme within management or the organization that is constantly developing. Leaders are now a days developing new and innovative ways to empower themselves and the followers in order to get the best out of them they follow the leaders to become like him or her the advantage is that the work is done properly and the followers. We have decided to look at the assumption that what leadership is based on,and the different types of relationships between the people, rather than the skills and abilities of just one person. We know this theory allows for a large network of interaction of people from all walks of life, they have the ability to shape these people through the influence and power of the leader. So the objective was to examine the forms of power and the relationships of different power. There are five sources of power that are commonly referred to when describing leadership. The different approaches with supporting evidence gathered from successful leaders. They demonstrated the challenges experienced it face the reality and how they have overcome from the situation ,these obstacles through the use of leadership, power and influence. Different leadership patterns are applicable to different genders, while these behavioral strategies note above present unique solutions for men and women. It is believed that females as a rule would have softer leadership styles related to care, nurture and sensuality rather than to ruthless and aggressive search for the implementation of the corporate objectives. Females as a rule stress the importance of relationship while men stress the importance of a task. Still, there are many examples of task oriented females and caring males. Also it is believed that females in the organizations are likely to gain authority only if the company deals with people and relations rather than with some dry figures and statistics. Leadership, as one can say involves the following four things Motivating other people. Some leaders and some must be followers. The leaders comes front in time when needed or crisis and present innovative solution. Leaders know what they want, to achieve and what is their ambition. The behavioural theory of leadership was created after the followers of the trait leadership theory could not find enough traits to explain why some people choose good leaders and why some could only be followers. The reason is the most logical way was to explore how the leaders behaved in their daily activities and especially towards their followers. The leadership would makes group of different behavioural patterns and activities together and then put a label on them calling them in styles. Concern for task. This behaviour of leaders is represented by tangible and calculable achievement linked which improved productivity of the organization of labor and motivation the personnel. Concern for people. This behaviour of leaders is represented by the tangible concern for people who works in the organization and have desire to establish proper relations rather than to treat them as units of production and corporate overhead. In this manner the leader establishes the group called the old boy club where each worker would become very much comfortable. Thus, if needed, each worker will give their best to do even more to make other friends happy. Directive leadership. This behavioural leadership style is represented by the leaders taking continuously and takes the decisions for other, and expecting the others rather to follow the instructions. Participative leadership. This behavioural leadership style is represented by the leaders goals to engage people make them busy to the task and increase their commitment by allowing them to make decisions for the company they work for. As a rule the leadership would use any two of the four general leadership styles shown above, they redesign them or rename them, plot them on some graph and then establish mixed strategy. Many others leadership would use other combinations and plot other leadership styles and schemes based on the leadership behaviour. Speaking about some practical situation, it is believed that those leaders engaged in participative and people-oriented leadership, they can enjoy better employee motivation and satisfaction leadership styles. Conclusion The power and bases of leadership is the day to day needs of human beings, and what i found while doing these assignment is Leader didnt came in the earth by god gifted. They make them self to become a good leader the one who have desire to become a leader he or she should work on it, give effort, gain knowledge, and practically do some research so that he or she could lead others. The leader should have the quality to motivate others make himself the brand image so people follow him or her.It is not the easy task to lead a country or a followers the courage should be build on him/her so that he/she could utilize the power of the leader. He/she should have decision making abilities and he/she should take the decision which will give them fame .Finally i would like to conclude by saying that everything is possible if you have the goals.

Treatment and Support for Transgender Children

Treatment and Support for Transgender Children Jill Seale Transgender children and adolescents face many obstacles in todays society that others do not; however, these obstacles are socially constructed and can be mitigated, and in some cases even negated, when the child or teen is afforded an affirming environment and the appropriate social and medical interventions. These factors are crucial to the welfare of transgender children and ideally would be available to them as early in their lives as possible. Kohlbergs Theory of Gender Constancy (as cited in Bernal Coolhart, 2012) states that children begin developing their gender identity in their preschool years. It is therefore unsurprising that the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the organization that is responsible for drafting the standards of care by which all trans people are treated by medical and psychiatric professionals, has found that signs pointing to Gender Dysphoria have been observed in children as young as two years old (2012). Gender Dysphoria, previously known as Gender Identity Disorder, is the state of feeling dissonance between ones gender assigned at birth and ones self-perceived or experienced gender. The number of children and youth who are being diagnosed and treated for this condition is growing, and according to Bernal Coolhart (2012), research and treatment protocols are showing that early intervention is effective in improving the lives of these children. In early childhood, one of the biggest decisions families will have to face is whether or not to allow their gender non-conforming child to begin socially transitioning into their preferred gender. In Kuvalanka, Weiner, and Mahans (2014) study, in which five mothers of transgender girls between the ages of eight and eleven years old were interviewed, it was shown that all five of the children were happier, more outgoing, and had a more confident demeanor after being allowed to express their self-perceived gender. At the point in her social transition in which she was allowed to express herself as a girl at home but had to pretend to be a boy in public, Lilly, a nine year old at the time, was described by her teacher as being â€Å"very quiet and shy (p.363).† Her mother, however, reported that at home she was happy and vibrant (Kuvalanka et al., 2014). Ehrensaft (2012) explains Lillys behavior at school as being what she calls the â€Å"false gender self,† that is, â₠¬Å"the face a child puts on for the world [either consciously or subconsciously] based on the expectations of the external environment and the childs interpretations and internalizations of either appropriate or adaptive gender behaviors (p.342).† When the girls in the study were allowed to express their â€Å"true gender self,† the positive effects went even further than just changes in attitude; their mothers reported that the childrens friendships and participation in school also improved (Kuvalanka et al., 2014). With the support of their families, these girls were able to go on to lead relatively normal childhoods. However, many children maintain this false gender self for years, sometimes into adulthood, with no parental support and no outlet to express their true self. Parental support has been shown to be extremely important in the quality of life of transgender children and teens. Simons, Schrager, Clark, Belzer, and Olsons (2013) study on the effects of parental support on the mental health of transgender adolescents shows that parental support correlates positively with higher life satisfaction, lower perceived burden of being trans, and fewer depressive symptoms. The study surveyed transgender youth between the ages of 12 and 24, excluding those who had not yet decided to pursue hormone replacement therapy, on their quality of life and the level of parental support they were receiving (Simons et al., 2013). Their quality of life was measured as their life satisfaction and their perceived burden of being trans, and their level of parental support was determined using the family subscale o f the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Simons et al., 2013). This includes questions such as, â€Å"I get the emotional help and support I need from my [parents]† and â€Å"I can talk about my problems with my [parents] (Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet, and Farley, 1988, p. 35).† It was also shown that greater depressive symptoms were associated with a greater perceived burden and that life satisfaction negatively correlated with perceived burden (Simons et al, 2013). What this study shows is that without parental support, transgender youth face a litany of hardships because of their gender identity that most children do not. Parental support is even more important when we consider the fact that many of the necessary medical and therapeutic interventions transgender children and adolescents need become much more difficult, if not impossible, for them to attain without the resources and support of their parents. Arguably the most important of these, and undoubtedly the most difficult to obtain without parental support, is the medicine used to delay the effects of puberty, known as puberty blockers. According to Bernal Coolhart (2012), many transgender people describe puberty as â€Å"extremely distressing, as changes in their bodies feel like betrayals to their sense of self (p. 292). † Puberty blockers allow the child to stall their natal puberty so that they can further explore their gender identity without fear of experiencing this potentially traumatic and permanently life-altering event. Even after being allowed to socially transition, one girl in the Kuvalanka et al. (2014) study, Nicole, experienced suicidal urges and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when her natal puberty began; however, the diagnosis was removed after she began taking puberty blockers. According to her mother, Nicole is now â€Å"doing very well and her issues are only those of a normal middle school girl (Kuvalanka et al., 2014, p. 364).† A study by Cohen-Kettenis, Schagen, Steensma, de Vries, and Delemarre-van de Waal (2011) that followed a transgender man from age 13 to age 35, who at the age of 13 had received puberty blockers, showed that puberty suppression can be a safe and effective treatment for transgender adolescents. They found that puberty blockers make certain gender affirming surgeries unnecessary, because many of them involve correcting the effects of natal puberty; they also made other surgeries less invasive, should the person decide they are necessary for them in the future (Cohen-Kettenis et al., 2011). According to Cohen-Kettenis et al. (2011), â€Å"unfavorable post operative outcomes seem to be associated with a late rather than an early start of gender reassignment (p.844).† One possible side effect, as noted by Bernal Coolhart (2012) is that cognitive development may be delayed as long as puberty is being delayed, however Cohen-Kettenis et al. (2011) found that the puberty blockers can be stopped at any time and the adolescents natal puberty, including their cognitive development, will commence. The research presented shows that with family support and positive, early intervention, transgender children and adolescents lives can be improved; however, there is a dearth of research on transgender people in general, and on children and adolescents in particular. That is why this paper will propose a study to be performed to learn more about this under served population. Cohen Kettenis et al. (2011) showed that puberty blockers can be an effective intervention for transgender adolescents, but because their study was longitudinal and limited to one transgender man it was unable to make conclusions that could be generalized to the larger transgender population; also, it was unable to measure the effects of puberty blockers against a control group of transgender adolescents who are not receiving puberty blockers. Therefore, the question this research will be attempting to answer is this: How do puberty blockers affect the quality of life of transgender adolescents? The study will measure quality of life by the subjects reported life satisfaction (to include their satisfaction with their social lives) as well as their academic and/or professional achievement. The hypothesis of this study is that taking puberty blockers will positively correlate with higher quality of life. References Bernal, A. T., Coolhart, D. (2012). Theories of Sociology :: Sociology Essays

There are many theories in sociology to get the better understanding of a society. Many things impact an individual’s behaviour, lifestyles, relationship and much more. Technology is one of the many things that affect the people. Internet is used worldwide and we can use sociology to determine what importance and place it holds in the society. To understand this invention and implication the society better, this paper will cover upon the three well-known theories which are’ Conflict, functionalism, and symbolic internationalism theories. There three theories look at the internet from different view point such as from a micro level and macro level. Functionalism focuses on the society as a whole, where as conflict theory focuses on group within that society, and symbol interactional focuses on individuals in the group and society. Thus, the view point changes depending on the population and the perspective. One of the important perspectives is a structural-functionalism. This approach focuses on â€Å"various components of society without prioritizing or assessing their importance to the social system as a whole; in effect all elements of a society are weighed equally† (Naiman, 2004; pp.18). In terms of internet, a functionalist would see the internet as a resource that brings efficiency in the lives of individuals for the reason that it is convenient. It also allows people to interact with one another around the world. A functionalist would ask questions regarding the function of the internet in the society would be: how does the internet help people access their provisions faster? How does it help people acquire knowledge and how can services be accessible to the demanding population? Thus, it mainly considers the benefits for all instead of few individuals. The internet is more efficiently used now a days because it saves one’s time. An individual can spend few minutes online, booking a flight ticket instead of going to the travel agency in-person or calling the customer services and going through a long hectic procedure. As the technology gets advance, it plays even greater role in shaping the lives of the individuals. Also, some people may wish to visit the bureaucracies. However, others may not have the time to visit the offices due to family responsibilities or for other reasons. Functionalist theorist would see a vast benefit when it comes to administrative related online services. It eliminates the waiting list and makes life easier for the citizens and it will take less space in the bureaucracies.

plato vs. socrates :: essays research papers

Plato vs. Aristotle Plato and Aristotle, two very well known philosophers, by definition are knowledge lovers, who held different ways of thinking on that of creation, politics, and love, consequently the teacher of Aristotle, who was Plato, holds different views on all of those matters. Creation, the beginning process of life either given from God, or an actual â€Å"higher form† which was Plato’s idea, or passed through from evolution, from which Aristotle sided with is one example of their differences. Plato’s idea that the creator, was a God, the all powerful who created the Earth, the universe, ECT, Aristotle would not believe in such a thing, because in his way of thinking, he does not encourage something that isn’t visual to him. Substance, matter, substratum, plain black and white evidence of something in the only convincing barrier for Aristotle’s mind to handle, whereas Plato trusted quite the opposite. Politics for these two resembles night and day. Aristotle preached balance. In balance, a stable government can be observed and obtained. Plato's concept of what politics and government should be is a direct result of his belief in the theory of forms. The theory of forms basically states that there is a higher "form" for everything that exists in the world. Each material thing is a representation of the real thing which is the form. According to Plato, most people cannot see the forms; they only see their representation or their shadows. Love for Plato had to be accomplished through mind and soul. For him, and his idea the mind and soul could not be separated, either through mortality or immortality. Someone could not love without body or a soul. To Aristotle we are of substance. One cannot see a soul, nor detect a mind, or where it lies, therefore to Aristotle, it does not exist. One cannot see love, it does not have fire, flesh or a head†¦.all aspects of matter that are defined of what everything living is. In conclusion, my idea of what the ideal politics is, which I know cannot be obtained is where the people are respected. No irresponsibility of what the people want carried through, to get dropped, or forgotten or even just not even considered. We live in a society where we have lost touch with what matters, what the democracy is set for, what it stands for as Americans. My view on love is that it exists.

Service Above Self

Ever since I was a child, my teachers, friends, parents, and family have always complemented me for my kindheartedness, determination, and of course my leadership. I have never been one to judge others, I always work hard in everything I do, and love being able to be in charge. My morals were built by people that surround me, specifically family. My mom has always taught me that everyone is the same and not one person is better than the next. This is something that has followed me throughout my life and is still one of my main priorities. I take great pride in being pen-minded and kindhearted, because I believe that most of the problems we have today is because of certain groups of people feeling more superior than another, and people's lack to do good for others with no benefit for themselves. Another problem that is here is people are not determined to fix the problems that our nation has and instead work around them. I am not one to walk around or run away from a problem, but I am determined to work hard and to not only get rid of the problem but take initiative to make sure it does not happen again. I believe that if everyone lived with this, the world ould become a better place by the minute. Unfortunately, the opposite is occurring at the moment and new problems emerge as time goes by. I am very proud of being a leader rather than a follower for many reasons. One, it gives me the opportunity to express my views, beliefs, morals, and concerns. Two, I continually try to make a difference in society for a greater good, and lastly, it gives me individuality in a good society. This good society is a major factor in many of today's problems. People tend to do what other people do, even if it is against their personal views. This leads to many problems because leaders with the wrong ntentions can easily be followed by those who are afraid of being their own person and leadership. I am proud to be a kindhearted, determined leader and have demonstrated it in more ways than one. During my years in high school, I have led my football team to greater heights by making the play offs for the first time in many years, they also helped me to be the first male All-State player in schools history. I also helped lead my schools basketball team win the school’s first state championship in any sport. I have shown my leadership around the school and was given the honor to be Mr. EMCA; this ward is based on a student’s excellent Christian testimony, attitude, extracurricular involvement, and overall best represents the school and what we believe in. The award is given to one male in the senior class chosen by the faculty, staff, and administration. I love that I have been said to be a great person and that many people look up to me. I work a lot at my church also by ushering and helping keep the church clean on work days. In The Bible there have been many instances of people using service above self like in Mark 1:29-39 Jesus used service ab ove self â€Å"From church, they went straight home to Simon and Andrew’s house long with James and John. They told him that Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever. But when he came in, he took her by the hand and she got up, the fever gone, and began to serve them. That evening, as the sun set, people started bringing their sick and deranged to the door – the whole city turned out – and he cured many with various illnesses and cast out many demons, but without allowing them to speak – they knew him. The next morning at O-dark thirty, Jesus got up and went out to be alone in prayer. But Simon and the others tracked him down and told him, â€Å"Everyone’s out looking for you. He said, â€Å"Let’s head out to the next few towns and get the word out there. That’s my mission. † So off they went, all over Galilee, speaking in churches and expelling demons. † Also Gal 5:13 â€Å"For, brethren, ye have been call ed unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. † God is telling us to serve others not just oneself. Also in Gal 5:14 â€Å"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. † God tells us to love our neighbors. Or in Gal 5:14 â€Å"For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt ove thy neighbour as thyself. † or Gal 5:22 â€Å"But the fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, joy, peace, LONGSUFFERING, GENTLENESS, GOODNESS, faith. † There are many other verses in the bible like Mark 10:43-45 â€Å"But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. †and 1 Cor 13:4-7 â€Å"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envi eth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, eeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. † and 1 Thes 1:3 â€Å"Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father. † In all of these verses, it shows that service above self is a very important thing to know and do. I really do hope that more people start to use service above self in this world.

In the mode he depicts Jim as a existent individual, who carries feelings and emotions, shows in fact that Twain is an opposition of bondage.Huck had the common smell out to see how bondage was a sure-enough(prenominal) blight to kindness. Perversely the so called train society accepted it, even the well-grounded people such as Miss. Watson. Huck matures farther as he breaks that affect that society gave Jim, and accepts him as a pattern individual. Huck refers to Jim, I knowed he was fresh indoors. ( Twain, pg 46 ) . It shows how Huck, who was brought up in a really bigoted subdivision of the state, that ingested all the lip service of bondage, was still able to exceed it by merely cognizing this wholeness nigga , Jim. Furthermore, Huck s voice alterations as Jim teaches him about friendly kindred. Their relationship becomes tighter, after the Huck s honk about him neer had gone losing in the fog. Huck learns that Jim is a individual is with feelings, and ultima tely Jim induces this motion into Huck s expectanthood. This is the critical point of Huck s transmutation, where Huck apologizes to Jim.Huck s ocean slickness down the Mississippi taught him much, but was in the main a frolic. But once it resumes, when Huck is taken up the Grangerfords, he journeys to the threatening side of American civilisation. The benevolent dwelling who offer Huck to remain is in a firing feud between an early(a) household, the Shepherdsons. Twain uses these two households to use in some deriding absurdness and to mock an excessively romanticizes thoughts about household give . Ultimately, the households sensationalized feud gets many of them killed. Huck truly refutes society one time he saw his new friend Buck, be shot and killed. Twain uses this incident to acknowledge on all systems of rule that rebuffs the humanity of another set of people. Huck becomes helpless in this episode. The Grangerfords are a salmagundi of contradictions where they t reat Huck good, but they own slaves and act more unwisely with other household by killing one other. Is this what society dawns upon?In the denouement, Huck transmogrifies into a full stripling who now truly believes in his values, and deems that it should non be manipulable and tarnished by society s Torahs. Near the decisiveness of the novel, Huck and Tom make an front to liberate Jim who is held captured. After Tom s farcical program fails, everyone learns that Jim was really a free adult male for hebdomads ( because Miss. Watson, in her will, let Jim to be free when she died ) . This thought of liberating a free black adult male had a particular resonance at the clip Twain wrote this novel. Blacks during this clip had much problem incorporating with society because of the racial subordination that was still present predating the obliging War.Work Cited The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Essay. California did nt welcome the Oakies because they grammatical constructioned for telephone circuits making exercising jobs, sudden growing of workers and less occupation infinites. As Oakies migrated to California, cultural battles between them and people from California occurred, because Oakies were ethnocentric, intending that they apprehension their culture/ethnicity is prior(a) to all. United we stand, divided we fall . Dust Bowl had non merely negative effects which we see right off, but some supreme positive effects when looked at deeper. Everything has a positive side from which people have to larn, even such a atrocious thing as dust bowl. The ultimate significance of the dust storms of the 1930s was that America as a whole, non merely the fields, was severely out of balance with its natural environment.
